Amazon has entered the book store market, opening stores in 7 states: California, Illinois, Massachusettes, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.
The bookstores are designed to offer the same curated experience as the website, with shelf content determined by online sales and interest. Popular books are shelved with several other books that an interested reader might purchase.
Someone I know visited the bookstore in Columbus Circle, NYC, and said he purchased more books than expected and planned to buy 4 more online.
If you are wondering, MD will be getting a store in Bethesda so you can check it out yourself.
