MLA Chats is a new virtual quarterly forum where MLA members can participate in a facilitated discussion on topics impacting their work and librarianship in general. October's session will focus on AI, library trends, and future-casting. This session will be facilitated by Thomas Vose (Director, Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County), and Laura Bandoch (Materials Assistant Director Harford County Public Library). This will not be recorded.

Internet Librarian Connect 2024 highlights how libraries are using AI and machine learning to save time for new programs; dealing with big data to pinpoint insights; using sensors and other Internet of Things devices to improve and extend services; experimenting with extended realities like augmented and virtual reality to delight their communities; and tracking and sharing applications of smart technology with their campuses, organizations, and neighborhoods. Internet Librarians never, however, lose sight of people in their communities as they futurize and transform to make sure they are relevant and valuable in their communities

 This comprehensive conference offers a wide-ranging program designed to meet the needs of librarians, information managers, systems professionals, researchers, content managers, curators and information specialists.

The I Love My Librarian Award invites library users like you to recognize the accomplishments of exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians. Each year, up to 10 librarians are honored at a ceremony held in their honor and receive a $5,000 cash award.

 

Since the award was established in 2008, 160 librarians have received this distinguished honor. In that time, library users nationwide have shared more than 23,000 nominations detailing how librarians have gone above and beyond in their commitment to inclusivity, literacy, and digital access.
